We are a small team of dedicated, highly motivated, accredited coaches who pride ourselves on providing high, quality coaching across a broad range of track, park and field events, in a professional yet relaxed environment. One common thread amongst these coaches is they are all such wonderful ambassador’s to the sport and the perfect role model that any parent would want for their child.
All our coaches have Working with Children accreditation.
Graham Garnett
Head Coach
Graham has been involved in Athletics since he was Seven….Yep, even has a few Little A’s, unbeaten 45 year old State Records and in that time has either been running, observing or coaching. He was fortunate to have been coached in his junior years by June Ferguson (MBE / Olympic Medallist and coach of Betty Cuthbert) and to have trained alongside many National Champions. Since taking up coaching in the North West of Sydney, Graham shared the track and developed a friendship with the late Ron White (co-founder of Hills Seniors and coach of many Track and Field Olympians). He was fortunate to have benefitted from Ron sharing much wisdom and experience until he passed and now wants to continue sharing both June’s and Ron’s Legacies, as well as creating his own, to the athletes and coaches, he coaches. Graham was from a sprinting and multi events background and is a Level 4 Specialist Coach in Sprints and Hurdles with Australian Athletics. Since beginning coaching in 2007 Graham has expanded his knowledge and experiences to become a Level 3 Performance Middle and Long Distance Coach and Level 2 Club Coach. Graham’s speciality events include the 100m; 200m; 400m; 800m; 1500m; x country (off season only); hurdles (short and long events); long and high jumps; throws and Park / Recreational runs.
Coach Caitlyn
‘Coach Caitlyn’ assists with the coaching of our Juniors and Developing Sprints / Hurdles / Jumps / Throws and Multi Event Squads.
Caitlyn has competed in the sport of Athletics for 13 years and has won many State and National Medals in hurdles, long jump and heptathlon. Caitlyn placed 5th in 2019-20 in what was her first year of Opens, despite having only just turned 20 and being the youngest in the National Field. Caitlyn has been coached by Graham for 13 years and began her coaching career in 2015. She has quickly earned the admiration and respect of many young athletes and their parents with her in-depth knowledge and experiences across the many events in which she excels. In 2019-20, Caitlyn commenced a Multi Event Squad with many local Little A’s enjoying coaching across Track and Field events in preparation for the NSW Little A’s Multi Events Championships. She is a Level 1 Community Athletics Coach and is extending her passion and knowledge for sport via her Bachelor of Physiotherapy Studies. Caitlyn is a wonderful example to her fellow athletes (peers and athletes she coaches) of how dedication, commitment, passion, knowledge, ambition organisational skills and family values are all assets required for a respected athlete and coach. Within a short period, Caitlyn has helped many young, athletes gain the necessary confidence to achieve repeated personal bests and qualifications to high level competitions.
Coach Sidney
‘Coach Sidney’ assists with the coaching of our Juniors and Developing Long Sprints and Middle Distance Squads.
Sidney has competed in the Sport of Athletics for 12 years and has represented her State on numerous occasions and won many State and National Medals in 200 mts, 400 mts and 800 mts. Sidney was also the Captain of the NSW ALAC team in 2016 and is a “Hall of Famer” at Hills District Little Athletics Club.
Sidney has been coached by Lead Coach Graham for 9 years and began her coaching career in 2015. She is known for her ferocious determination and limitless courage which, when combined with her appreciation of the focus and commitment needed to succeed, makes her a perfect role model for the younger athletes to “look up” to. Sidney is a Level 1 Community Athletics Coach and is currently in year 12 completing her HSC. Like Caitlyn, Coach Sidney is a wonderful example to her fellow athletes (peers and athletes she coaches) of how dedication, commitment, passion, knowledge, ambition, organisational skills and family values are all assets required for a respected athlete and coach.
Coach Lily
Coach Lily’ assists with the coaching of our Juniors and Developing Hurdles / Jumps / Throws and Multi Event Squads. She has competed in the sport of Athletics for 10 years and has won State, Interstate and National Medals in her favourite event, the Heptathlon and both Triple and Long Jumps. Lily has been coached by Graham for 5 years and began her coaching career in 2017, assisting Graham and Coach Caitlyn, to teach hurdles to the younger squads. She is a deep thinker and already can identify technical deficiencies with her athletes. In season 2019-20, Lily began assisting the Multi Event Squad, where many local Little A’s enjoyed coaching across many Track and Field events, in preparation for the NSW Little A’s Multi Events Championships. She is a Level 1 Community Athletics Coach and is currently completing her school studies. Like Coach Caitlyn and Sidney, Coach Lily is a wonderful example to her fellow athletes (peers and athletes she coaches) of how dedication, commitment, passion, knowledge, ambition and family values are all valuable assets for a coach and athlete.
